Diflucan is used for treating and preventing certain yeast and fungal infections.
Fluconazole capsules ip 150 mg once daily, 3 times (or more) daily. (R) 1.5 mg/kg i.v. nifedipine or ethambutol/carbamazepine 5 mg/kg once daily. (R) 1.5 i.v. nifedipine or ethambutol/carbamazepine 1.4 mg/kg twice daily. (R)
The doses of treatment should be adjusted according to the severity of symptoms. If reaction is severe, discontinue therapy immediately and consider medical therapy. If the reaction is mild, reduce dose and use another benzodiazepine as needed until the patient is fully recovered.
Dizziness and vertigo are common. Other symptoms such as abdominal pain, fever, and tenderness to light are usually absent.
The reactions are dose-related and vary from 1/100 patients to 10-20% of patients.
In the clinical cases, it usually takes 30-72 hours of therapy for symptoms to improve. The treatment may be terminated in cases of severe reactions.

Dosing
The dosage of benzodiazepines can be adjusted according to the severity of symptoms.
A study by Hübner et al. conducted on patients with neuropathic pain treated a single oral dose of 300 mg diazepam showed that the mean blood level was measured for diazepam at about 250 ng/ml, which was higher than that of valproate, at 25 ng/ml.[5] In a similar study, diazepam and diltiazem (both in oral solution at about 200 mg/kg) were administered to patients with peripheral neuropathy for 6 weeks. Diltiazem was better tolerated than other drugs; diazepam was marginally stronger than haloperidol, lorazepam, and lorazepam/clonazepam/clonazepam at 300 mg/kg. Diltiazem also outperformed other drugs for the short-term treatment of peripheral neuropathy.[6]
Tolerance occurs after repeated doses in the same patient and is generally regarded as a problem with long-term use. For this reason, diazepam and dalteparin are generally taken in divided doses on a daily basis.
